It’s natural to assume WordPress is only for blogs and nothing else. Well, it’s possible to use to WordPress not only for your blog, but also your website. WordPress is what is called a Content Management System, CMS, and it has a lot of versatility to it. What’s really great about this are all the plugins that are always being developed, and you can get your blog/site to do just about anything you want. Here are some excellent plugins for IM marketers, and you should at least evaluate them for your business.
You may not understand why, yet – but make sure you install the Google XML Sitemap on your blog plus read-up about using it. This is one of “those” things that is so critical to the success of any blog that relies on SEO, and most do. If you’re going to do SEO, then Google needs to crawl all of your pages – it uses the sitemap to do that. Also, it’s highly recommended to build a new sitemap when you update your site, but if you update it every day then perhaps once a week, etc. If you try to do this long hand it becomes a time consuming ordeal. However, not really a problem with the plugin because it auto updates whenever your site is updated.
The Similar Posts plugin kinda does what you’re thinking it might do. When you make any post, this plugin will find related/similar posts and then insert a link at the bottom of your posts to the related ones. Ok, so it’s pretty obvious why this is a good idea; it will try to interest your visitors in other posts, etc. This technique has been shown to work with keep readers on a site. Never give them a reason to navigate away to somewhere else.
There’s a plugin, SMS Text Message, that send a text to subscribers whenever there’s a site update. Ok, first it uses an optin form that it places on your site. It’s easy to do this, visitors will simply optin with their cell phone number, and then it’s all set and they’ll get updates with text messages. This seems to be a novel way of keeping your subscribers aware of what’s going on. Of course not very many people are going to be open to giving out their phone numbers these days so don’t be surprised if it takes you a really long time to build up your list.
WordPress is a fantastic system for internet marketers. The platform is free and easy to use. The version releases tend to be stable, and it’s no problem to customize it. You’ll be able to do just about anything you’ll ever need from it. It’s an IM marketers dream in so many ways.
